People keep saying I should draw more monsters and stuff like that instead of pretty girls and fanart. And I just dont. get. it.
Original art is something that makes me incredible lazy, and it’s never really challenging because instead of sticking to a plan I do just whatever I want (IT’S MY ART, IT’S IN MY HEAD AND I DON’T NEED ANY RULEEEEES).
And I would really like to understand what the fuss about drawing monsters. I’m not saying it’s not cool, and I’m not saying that some people can do it EXTREMELY well, but most people are just drawing stuff we’ve already seen on Foster Mansion for Imaginary Friends or some Miyazaki movie, it’s not THAT original, you guys.
I know “serious artists” have a lot of issues with fanart, but honestly? I just can’t see why. Fanart always help me a lot, and it’s a GREAT exercise of interpretation.
Silly and cutesy art can be nice too.
